Art for sage and green walls

Green walls are some of the easiest to hang art on, as long as the art does not bring a second, competing green.

Natural wood warms a green wall; black gives definition on olive and forest green.

Colours that sit well

Green is calm on its own, so warm colours carry the art: cream paper, ochre, terracotta, soft pink. A touch of green inside the art ties it to the wall, but a different green from the wall’s own tends to look like a mismatch.

Frames

Natural wood is the easy choice on sage and pairs with oak floors. On olive or a deep forest green, a black frame gives the print a clean edge.

A real example

We measured the wall from the photo, then made eight pieces from the room's colours. These are the ones the curator chose, with its reason under each.

Questions

What colour art goes with sage green walls?

Warm colours: cream, ochre, terracotta and soft pink, with a little green that matches the wall rather than competes with it.

What frame suits a sage green wall?

Natural wood is the easiest. A black frame gives more contrast, especially on olive or darker greens.

Your wall is not exactly any of these. Send a photo and we measure its real colour, then make four pieces for it.
